Valentine's Day has come and gone, but we still have a Valentine to announce for February's Purgee of the Month! The Purgee of the Month is be a member selected by the coaches for their great attitude, killer progress, and/or otherwise just being overall awesome!
February’s Purgee of the Month is Marissa Toth!
Marissa has grown so much in her confidence with the WODs, to the point where now she reaches out to help other new members find their comfort zone and get the most out of their workouts. Her lifts have improved tremendously, and she's gained so much strength since starting with Purgatory! Always smiling and willing to help, we are so glad to have you as a Purgee, Marissa!
Name: Marissa Toth
Where are you originally from? Born and raised in Southern CA but in 2016 my husband’s job relocated us to Tucson.
How long have you been a CrossFitter, and why did you start? My brother is an avid Crossfitter and has been suggesting for me to try it for years because he thought I’d love it... wish I tried it sooner because he was right!
Which movement is your favorite?: Clean & jerk
How have you improved the most since starting CrossFit? I’m definitely stronger physically but Crossfit has definitely improved me mentally. When I first started, I would look at the WOD and would think “I can’t do that” now I look at the WOD and think “let’s go!”
Which MarioKart character would you be? Mario!
What do you love about CrossFit Purgatory?: I love my fellow Purgees and coaches... and that I can bring my kiddo with me!
What keeps you motivated?: I stay motivated by knowing I have to set a good example for my kiddo. It’s so gratifying to see him copy Crossfit movements or hear him making references to Crossfit.
If I’m not at the box, you can probably find me….: Target. Always at Target.
One interesting thing about yourself not related to CrossFit: Before moving to Tucson, I worked in the nonprofit sector for over 10 years and managed events with thousands of participants.
