It's been a crazy few weeks and we are behind the ball, but there is an awesome Purgee we need to recognize as July's Purgee of the Month. Sabrina!! She walked in the doors tiny and unsure, and since then she's been working hard to build herself to be strong and confident. She is consistently pushing herself to the next level and RXing more and more wods. We love seeing her overall improvement and the way she pushes herself to go that extra step! Congrats Sabrina, we're proud to have you as a Purgee!
Where are you from? What brought you to Tucson?
I am from Nogales, AZ. I moved to Tucson in 2014 to attend the University of Arizona.
How long have you been a CrossFitter, and why did you start?
I have been doing crossfit for 2 years. I started because I am awful at working out by myself and am more motivated in a group setting! I also really like working with the barbell.
Which movement is your favorite?
My favorite movement is probably power cleans or handstand push-ups.
How have you improved the most?
I think my improvement has come mostly with building my confidence. I am more confident with my skill and therefore can do more reps or more weight.
If you were stuck on a desert island, and could only have one food forever, what would it be?
Tacos, tacos, tacos. (tacos al vapor if we're being specific)
What do you love about being at CrossFit Purgatory?
I love the positive atmosphere. Everyone cheers on everyone else which makes you feel motivated to keep going. Also your limits are tested in a positive way where you surprise yourself on what you are capable of.
What keeps you motivated?
Being able to do skills that I was not able to do when I first joined. It is awesome to see how much I have improved and how much more I can improve. I am also motivated when people outside of the gym tell me I look strong!
If I'm not at the box, you can probably find me...
Either binge watching old episodes of The Office or outside playing with my dog, Nova.
One interesting thing about yourself not related to CrossFit:
I've traveled to eight countries!
